Steve Bowker, a patient here at MNC, has today started his Coast-to-Coast cycle ride to raise money and awareness for the stroke association.
Steve suffered a stroke in 2014, which left him unable to actively participate in his passions of fell running, climbing and cycling. Since his stroke, Steve has worked incredibly hard to regain the function he lost as a result of the stroke and is continuing to make fantastic progress on his rehabilitation journey. He is now taking on arguably his biggest challenge of cycling the mammoth 140 mile route from Whitehaven to Tynemouth.
Steve is using an adapted bike to complete the 3 day journey and will be supported on the way by a number of friends. Although as a cycling enthusiast, this is somewhat of a personal challenge for Steve, the main goal of his challenge is to raise money and awareness of the stroke association. The stroke association are a charity that provide much needed support for survivors of stroke and their families.
Steve is an inspiration to the therapists and patients here at MNC, and we all wish him the best of luck on his challenge!
