SUMMARY:Introduction to Bobath – Module 1
DESCRIPTION:Duration: All Day Saturday\, Half Day Sunday\nCourse Tutor: Tim Walton\nCourse Description: This two-day module is designed to introduce participants to the concept of movement analysis in the assessment and treatment of adults with neurological or neuromuscular dysfunction. \nThe module consists of a theoretical introduction to movement analysis\, practical sessions\, and a patient demonstration. \nCourse Aims: \n\nTo discuss movement analysis based on the Bobath Concept\nTo explore and enhance skills of observation\, analysis and facilitation in a neurologically intact subject\nTo link the evidence base and clinical practice\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nDescribe key components relating to the analysis of positions/postural sets (sitting/standing) and movement sequences (sit to stand)\nIdentify key characteristics of efficient movement performance and recognise potential causes for lack of efficiency\nUnderstand the wide postural and tonal variations in the intact neurological population\nDemonstrate efficient handling skills to facilitate movement from one postural set to another (sit to stand to sit)\nApply knowledge of movement analysis to the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological dysfunction\n\nSuitable for: Qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working in neurology \nCost: £225.\nHow to Apply: Please either email your interest to admin@mncweb.co.uk or telephone 0161 7930003

SUMMARY:BBTA Workshop: Ataxia
DESCRIPTION:Duration: Full Day Saturday and Sunday\nCourse Tutor: Sue Armstrong\nCourse objectives: \nThis course will focus on the principles of rehabilitation for ataxic presentations . We will review basic relevant neuroscience of the cerebellum and brainstem\, as well as an update of current relevant research\, with link to clinical presentations and interventions\, including a clinical reasoning focused patient workshop and practical sessions. The practical sessions will cover assessment of postural control\, movement analysis and movement control\, and skill development relevant for common clinical issues\, including central vestibular integration with balance. \nThe course is suitable for qualified PT’s and OT’s who work in neurological rehabilitation\, While it is helpful to have attended previous BBTA courses\, it is not a pre-requisite. \nCost: £240.\nHow to Apply: Please either email your interest to admin@mncweb.co.uk or telephone 0161 7930003
