SUMMARY:Assistants Course: Optimising Recovery of Upper Limb Function specific to reaching and grasping
DESCRIPTION:A one day workshop looking at the fundamentals of how we perform reach and grasp in daily activities. To give the participants practical skills and knowledge of how they can use this to optimise their patient’s performance in day to day activities such as feeding\, dressing and movement between postures. \nCost £110 \nThis course is designed for physiotherapy assistants and carers working with individuals living with a neurological condition. \nThis course aims to improve the participants: \n\nknowledge of analysing how their clients are moving and the impact this is may be having on their functional performance in everyday activities\nTo adapt their own handling to optimise their client’s movement performance\nTo help them to support their clients to meet their rehabilitation goals\n\nHow to Apply: Please either email your interest to admin@mncweb.co.uk or telephone 0161 7930003

SUMMARY:Introduction to Bobath – Module 1
DESCRIPTION:Duration: All Day Saturday\, Half Day Sunday\nCourse Tutor: Tim Walton\nCourse Description: This two-day module is designed to introduce participants to the concept of movement analysis in the assessment and treatment of adults with neurological or neuromuscular dysfunction. \nThe module consists of a theoretical introduction to movement analysis\, practical sessions\, and a patient demonstration. \nCourse Aims: \n\nTo discuss movement analysis based on the Bobath Concept\nTo explore and enhance skills of observation\, analysis and facilitation in a neurologically intact subject\nTo link the evidence base and clinical practice\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nDescribe key components relating to the analysis of positions/postural sets (sitting/standing) and movement sequences (sit to stand)\nIdentify key characteristics of efficient movement performance and recognise potential causes for lack of efficiency\nUnderstand the wide postural and tonal variations in the intact neurological population\nDemonstrate efficient handling skills to facilitate movement from one postural set to another (sit to stand to sit)\nApply knowledge of movement analysis to the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological dysfunction\n\nSuitable for: Qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working in neurology \nCost: £225.\nHow to Apply: Please either email your interest to admin@mncweb.co.uk or telephone 0161 7930003

SUMMARY:Bobath - Module 3
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Bobath (Module 3) \n The integration of postural control and selective movement for functional activities (Part B) \nDuration: All Day Saturday and Half day Sunday \nCourse Tutor: Tim Walton \nCourse Description: This BBTA module will include patient demonstrations\, theoretical and practical sessions. It will focus on the assessment and treatment of the patient with more established movement dysfunction. \nCourse Aims: \n\nTo discuss the pathophysiology and consequences to the patient with established movement dysfunction\nTo develop skills of observation\, analysis\, and facilitation in a neurologically intact subject\nTo link the evidence base and clinical practice\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nExplain the pathophysiology and consequences of a Upper Motor Neurone syndrome\nDemonstrate a deeper understanding of postural and tonal variations within the normal population\nProblem solve appropriate handling in neurologically intact models to align/activate distal key points\nDraw upon improved assessment skills to treat a patient with established movement dysfunction\n\n  \nSuitable for: Qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working in neurology \nCost: £225. \nHow to Apply: Please either email your interest to admin@mncweb.co.uk or telephone 0161 7930003
